The flagship company, Reliance Industries Limited, is a Fortune Global 500 company and is the largest private sector company in India

Backward vertical integration has been the cornerstone of the evolution and growth of Reliance. Starting with textiles in the late seventies, Reliance pursued a strategy of backward vertical integration - in polyester, fibre intermediates, plastics, petrochemicals, petroleum refining and oil and gas exploration and production - to be fully integrated along the materials and energy value chain. We are among the top five to ten producers in the world in major petrochemical products.

Reliance Polyester

Reliance is one of the largest polyester yarn and fibre producers in the world; with a capacity of 2.5 million tonnes per annum. Reliance invests significant amounts on research and development in the polyester sector. Reliance Technology Centre, Reliance Testing Centre and Reliance Fibre application Centre constantly develop and introduce innovative products for the textile industry

Right since its inception Reliance only objective has been to deliver a better quality of life at affordable prices to as many people as possible. This endeavour has been brought to fruition by focusing on research and innovation to constantly improve existing products and at the same time develop new products.

Need of the Hour

Human activity has pushed the planet beyond the threshold of safe environmental boundaries, thus sending the world towards a “danger zone”. Be it ozone depletion, ocean acidification, air, water, land pollution, climate change, biodiversity loss, changes in land use, and altered biogeochemical cycles due to usage of fertilizers, insecticides, and pesticides have fundamentally changed how the planet functions. These changes destabilise complex interactions between people, oceans, land and atmosphere. Passing the threshold makes the planet less hospitable thereby damaging the quality of life .We are at a point where we may see abrupt and irreversible changes due to climate change.

So we need to pitch for a paradigm shift in the local and global attitudes towards climate change. Focus should shift not only towards carbon credit but to green credit as well. Like working innovatively towards clean energy generation (solar, wind, bio-mass power).Continuously working towards improving the life of the mankind by reducing, recycling and reusing of virgin resources of any kind.

What Reliance is doing?

Manufacturing Recron® GreenGold polyester staple fibre is Reliance tribute to our mother earth. Our philosophy is to reduce, re-use, recycle & replace, in all stages of manufacturing by process optimisation and product optimisation from input material to packed product, still creating the best products at par with virgin fibres.
